Celebrating World MS Day

May 29 is World MS (Multiple Sclerosis) Day

World MS Day is May 29.  This is the day every year used to educate others from around the world about MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS

After being diagnosed about 4 years ago myself, it took much research to discover for myself what would be the best way to live my best life fighting this disease.  Glad to have come upon this website, among others, with much information to help me do so.

Thanks to the Internet, we are all connected to a website, www.msif.org, to share our motto's on living with MS.  Reading how others, who are going through what I'm going through, get through each day is inspiring and motivating.  We also share online educating events around the world.  MSIF stands for Multiple Sclerosis International Federation. This is a group, as said on the website, that focuses on international research, support MS organizations, advocate for and raise awareness of MS and communicate MS information.

What I have learned over the years is that Multiple Sclerosis is an auto-immune disease that attacks the protective covering on the nerves in the brain and spinal cord, creating lesions.  This can cause an array of symptoms, such as, numbness, constant tingling, muscle movement issues, fatigue, concentration difficulties, vision problems, to being severely disabled.  It is a very mysterious disease because it is so different for each person and also very hard to diagnose.

I feel blessed that between changing my lifestyle (getting plenty of rest and limited stress), eating habits (eating fresh whole foods with no animal products, processed or fried foods plus drinking plenty of water), giving myself 3 prescribed injections/wk, taking supplements, and also yoga and exercising 5 times/wk, I am able to live a great life being the best mom, wife, daughter, sister, hairstylist, friend, not to mention blogger, I can be!

So for World MS Day this year, 2013, I thought I would start here, sharing my story, hopefully touching at least one life!
