Assumption Center Dinner theatre Cabaret and Musical Fantasticks

The Assumption Center and the Metropolitan Academy of Performing Arts present


Dinner Theatre, Cabaret Singing, and the full longest running Off Broadway Musical The Fantasticks 


The new non-profit organiaztion Metropolitan Academy of Performing Arts, MAPA, is announcing their first major production in partnership with the assumption Cultural Center in St. Clair Shores.  Tickets for the Thursday May 9th Performance at the Assumption Center are now available at Posterity a Gallery in GP Village, and Small Favors in Grosse Pointe Woods as well as at Assumption Cultural Center and at www.mimapa.org through pay pal.

Dinner catered by Marchiori Catering will be served from 6PM to 7PM, with a Musical Cabaret performance by students of MAPA followed by performance of Fantasticks, the longest running off Broadway musical.  Premier seating is $75.00;  General Seating $50.00 for adults and students under 60, $45.00 for Seniors over 60.  A $10.00, special seating for the Musical Cabaret and Fantasticks performance at 7:30 pm seating is offeered to students in the community of any age through college. 


MAPA is an organization to promote the arts through classes offering private voice training, dance, theatrical and similar performances for students primarily from Middle school, high school and adults in our greater Detroit community.  MAPA students have performed in the 2012 Santa Parade in Grosse Pointe, Sung at our Central Library also before and after the Santa Parade, Toys for Tots, Caroling at the Eleanor and Edsel House, The Wayne County Metropolitan Airport, London Chop House and soon to be the entertainment at the UM Mott Fund Raiser.  Under the direction of Ellen Bowen, retired Grosse Pointe South High School Director of Choral Activities, Music Theater and Music Technology, the Academy has attracted internationally known swing dance instructor melissa Peters, and MFA Drama and Speech Director Melissa Smith who has combined with Ms. Bowen for the past 11 years as the Music Theatre team at Grosse Pointe South.
