St. Clair Shores Special Olympics Team Takes Bronze Medal at State Finals
Basketball team earns second consecutive medal

ST. CLAIR SHORES, Mich. — The St. Clair Shores Sharks Special Olympics basketball team went to the state finals for the second straight year, and brought home a medal for the second straight year. The team earned a bronze medal in Division 5 in the games at Calvin College in Grand Rapids on March 19.
In the opening round, the Sharks lost to the Bull Dogs by a score of 50-18. The team then bounced back in the bronze medal game and defeated the Gremlins by a score of 47-14.
In their nine years of Special Olympics basketball competition, the Sharks have now gone to the state finals three times and won two medals.

The Sharks team includes: James Averette, Romel Bond, Scott Castro, Aaron Deskins, Joe Gasiorowski, Dwain Goodlow, Vincente Johnson, Andy Linsdeau, Stephen Mazurkiewicz, Suzanne Pauli, Sean Phelps, Todd Shields, and Josh White. The team was coached by Greg Mazurkiewicz along with assistant coaches Margaret Mazurkiewicz and Steve White.
