Woman, 86, Killed By Snowplow Driver In Macomb Co. Parking Lot: Police

Investigators​ said the 86-year-old woman was walking across the parking lot to her vehicle​​ when the truck hit her​.

FRASER, MI — An elderly woman was killed by a snowplow truck Tuesday in a Fraser parking lot, according to police.

Police said the plow driver turned into a parking lot at 12:30 p.m. in the area of 15 Mile and Hayes roads and began pushing snow and dumping salt.

The truck driver then backed up at a fast pace and hit the 86-year-old woman, police said.

The elderly woman was taken to a nearby hospital where she died, police said.

The woman had just left a hair salon in the shopping center, police said.

Officers arrested the truck's driver, a 45-year-old Warren man, in connection to the crash, police said.

The Warren man was a private contractor hired to put salt on the parking lot's pavement, investigators said.

Police released the man from jail as investigators were looking into potential charges from the Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office.
