The project, shared by Sterling Heights and several townships, aims to improve safety and drainage by removing tall reeds that can damage pavement and block motorists' views.
   

2. Sterling Heights man sentenced to life in prison for 2023 murder of girlfriend (cbsnews.com) — A Sterling Heights man has been sentenced to life in prison, without parole, for the 2023 murder of his girlfriend, following a jury's first-degree murder conviction in June. Macomb County prosecutors detailed the brutal killing and pointed residents toward domestic violence hotlines, including local help through Turning Point for anyone in danger or needing support.
   

3. Trump's 50% Canada tariff threat rattles Michigan auto makers and workers near Detroit (wxyz.com) — A Sterling Heights-based wheel manufacturer and local auto workers are bracing for a proposed 50% U.S. tariff on Canadian vehicles and parts set for Jan. 1, 2027, which could raise costs and threaten jobs. CITIC Dicastal's CEO, operating out of Sterling Heights, says the long-standing U.S.-Canada auto trade relationship is at risk as experts warn of higher prices and possible plant furloughs.
   

4. Eisenhower debuts new stadium with shutout of Stevenson (macombdaily.com) — A boys soccer team from Sterling Heights Stevenson traveled to Utica Eisenhower's newly renovated Swinhart Stadium, where Eisenhower handed them a 3-0 shutout in the first official game at the upgraded facility. Stevenson, returning a large senior group, fell to 1-2 despite a stronger second half, while Eisenhower stayed unbeaten and unscored upon through two matches.
