• Iosco County woman sentenced in killing of William Jackson (wnem.com) — A Tawas City judge has sentenced 60-year-old Dorene Schunk to at least 22½ years in prison for her role in the killing of William Jackson, a case that wound through Iosco County's 23rd Circuit Court. Prosecutors say Schunk supplied the gun used by another man and helped move Jackson's body to Huron National Forest, closing a major local murder case.
   

• Intense Hurricane Polo will eventually affect Michigan, here's when and how (mlive.com) — Expect a widespread soaking rain in Tawas City starting Wednesday as moisture from Hurricane Polo combines with other systems over Michigan. Forecasters currently call for one to two inches of rain from Ludington through Clare and Tawas City southward, with some spots possibly higher, and emphasize that only heavy rain—not damaging winds—will reach our area.
