My friend Court and I stopped by Bigalora for what we thought would be a simple pizza and beer dinner – but what we experienced was very different than expected. Upon entering the restaurant we started to learn that Bigalora was much more than a “pizza joint”…the menu offers small plates, salads, pastas, pizzas and desserts – all utilizing fresh and local products and remaining as naturally organic as possible. And besides the health benefits – the food is absolutely delicious!
My favorite fact I learned about Bigalora was that the menu was created by Chef Luciano – the owner of the Bacco Ristorante, a delicious, upscale restaurant in Southfield. As soon as I heard that, I KNEW the food was going to be delicious…and it was! We tried a WIDE range of items and EVERY. SINGLE. ONE. was delicious: the Bigalora Chopped ($12), risotto balls ($7.50), meatballs ($8.50), caprase ($7.50), strozzapreti norcina pasta ($16), quattro stagione pizza ($14.50) and the salted carmel parfait ($9).
Bigalora is an adorable, clean, bright, fresh spot with a great Italian vibe! There is a cozy bar area with drink specials daily and the dining room is large with tons of windows and sunlight. This place is a MUST EAT for anyone who loves fresh, tasty, italian food.
