THE GARAGE GRILL & FUEL BAR.

Unlike the past, I'm confident The Garage Grill & Fuel Bar is here to stay.

What started as a service station in the 1940′s has turned into a superb dining experience on the streets of Downtown Northville. In 2012 the building, that has been a gas station or two, a Chrysler car dealership, a dry cleaner, and a garden shop, was renovated and turned into a stylish place to grab some grub.

The location is so fabulous that the 45 minute wait on a Saturday evening was no problem. They took my cell number down and texted me when my table was ready. We walked down to the park where there was live music and waited for the text (which I should add only took about 20 minutes). The text tells you that you have 10 minutes to get back and claim your table. Also no worry about parking- they have a small parking lot, but there is also plenty of street space.

We went for dinner and I must say they quickly put a basket of these incredible rolls on the table to snack on (or devour in our case) while you browse their classic American menu with a trendy twist.

The menu has a little bit of everything; from Kobe Beef Sliders or Pulled Pork Spring Rolls to start for less than $10 to the Chesapeake Bay pizza with béchamel sauce, crab, shrimp, fontina & parmesan for $13. There are more complex entrees; meat, pasta, or fish ranging from $16- $29.50 or simple sandwiches (chicken, burger, tacos) for $16 or less served with their incredible house or sweet potato fries. They have a great specialty drink menu as well as a big beer and wine selection.

For anyone that has walked the streets of Downtown Northville, you can probably assume that this place is as incredible as everything else Northville has to offer… I think you are probably right. My favorite part of The Garage is the outdoor seating; you can look over downtown while you eat. Honestly, inside is a fantastic choice as well. They have garage doors that open up and the décor blends the trends of then and now perfectly. I went in knowing the history of the building which made the experience and decorations more meaningful.
