Moving to Michigan

As a Michigan relocation specialist I talk to many relocation buyers.  What would you think are the biggest concerns for relocation buyers when moving to Metro Detroit.  What would be important for you?  If you are like most Michigan home buyers you will want.

1.)   Safety.  A city and a home that is safe.  A place to live where you can walk outside without fears of gangs.  Without the fear of being mugged or robbed.  Where you can park your car on the street and not worry about the car being stolen.  A city where you do not have to worry about having your house broken into when you leave for work.  A community where you can walk the dog, or walk with the kids in safety

2.  Good schools.  When moving to Michigan anybody calls from a relocation company because they have taken a job in Metro Detroit and they have kids, they want good schools.  Nobody from out of state is going to move into a neighborhood or city that has below average schools unless they absolutely do not have money or do not have kids.  In my 14 years of being in the real estate business I have only had one person that did that.  They were upside down on a home in another state and wanted to keep the home, but they could not afford much in a home here in Michigan.  So their choices of cities were not very good for what they could afford.  Of course they moved out of Metro Detroit to another state because they hated the city they lived in.  What could they expect.  The next state they moved to they spent $200,000 on a home versus $30,000 here.  So most Michigan relocation buyers buy homes in good cities with good schools.

3. Reputation.   No matter where people are coming from they learn about top Michigan cities quickly.  They talk to co-workers, to family and friends, they research on the internet.  They usually know 5 to 10 top cities in the area they are moving too.  Sometimes they do not know all the great cities here.  Little cities like Pleasant Ridge are sometimes overlooked.  We have so many good to excellent cities here in South eastern Michigan.

4.  Ease of highway access and closeness to necessities.  Here in southeastern Michigan we have a great highway and road system.  There is a way to get to any side of the city anytime of the day because of our main roads and highways.  It is the same with doctors, hospitals, banks, grocery stores, shopping, and restaurants.  There is not a city in Metro Detroit that is lacking for the necessities for daily living.  You never have to drive far to get what you need.

West Bloomfield Michigan has a great reputation.  It is a highly desirable city for home buyers whether they are moving from out of state or instate.  West Bloomfield has a reputation of excellent schools, low crime rates, great shopping, and a world class hospital.  There is so much to do in the city and if you cannot find it right in the city it is not going to be far away.  So if you are moving to Michigan I would visit West Bloomfield and see if it is a city for you.  Feel free to call me on my cell if you have questions about West Bloomfield.  (248) 310-6239  There are also many great lakefront homes in West Bloomfield MI to chose from.
