The Crane Centre provides job skills, training and career development opportunities to Uganda's youth in order to foster independence, leadership and a vision for their future. The Crane Centre graduates receive career certificate in Hotel Management and Institutional Catering. Their courses include catering, the culinary arts, arts & crafts, computer skills and hotel management
The Crane Centre’s founder, Sandra Crane, had traveled to Uganda for several years with a mission group. During her visit in 2005, she felt the call to purchase property near Uganda’s third largest town, Mbarara. She conceived the idea of building career center that would train young people who were not able to attend university. The hospitality industry was chosen because there are so many opportunities in it and the need for well trained staffing is great. Students would be trained from entry-level positions up to management and ownership positions.
The national bird and symbol of Uganda is the Crested Crane, which only affirmed God’s will was at work through Sandra’s vision. The Crane Centre is based on a foundation of faith in Christ. The Crane Centre is a Michigan Not For Profit 501(c)(3) Corporation. Please visit www.thecranecentre.org for further information.
