Are you thinking of selling your West Bloomfield home?  Today I am going to give you tips on how to sell your West Bloomfield home without investing a lot of money.  Did you know that making your home appear spacious and open that it will make it more appealing to Michigan home buyers.

So let’s think about what you are planning to do.  You are going to move and when you move you have to pack up your belongings in boxes.  So what I want you to do is go through each room and start pre-packing.   We want to pack away all the excess belonging you have on countertops, shelves, and table tops.  The maximum amount of items that we want on your flat tops is 1 to 3 items.  We want them to appear clean, spacious, and open.

During this packing period I want you to look around.  Do you have:

• religious items such as statues, or shrines?  If you do you should put them away as the buyer may not identify with you and may even resent your religion.  I know you are proud of your religion, but by being over showing about it may kill your home sale
• hunting trophies?  There are many animal lovers and PETA activists out there.  You can have ladies being turned off by your deer heads and leave your home before they have seen it all.
• Collections?  If you have a doll, or dish collection pack it away.  If the home buyers are standing there admiring your collection or standing there wondering why anybody has so much of one item we have lost a sale.  We want the buyers to be concentrating on looking at your house not your belongings.
• Lots of family pictures, and vacation pictures all over.  Put them away.
• Specialized décor.  If you are into country or southwest décor you may want to put it away.  Buyers have to picture themselves in your home.  If they dislike Country décor we will have lost a buyer.

The focus should be your house not your belongings.  Now do not be offended when I tell you that you should put them away.  Remember our goal is to make your home be as neutral as possible.  To appeal to the greatest number of buyers as possible.  The bigger the number of potential buyers that like your house will give you a greater chance of selling your home.

Remember you are going to have to pack anyway.  So why not start packing before you list.  It does not matter if it is a West Bloomfield waterfront property or a home in a subdivision making your home appear spacious, clean, and open will help make your home more appealing to home buyers.  This will help you get more money for your home and help it sell quicker.
