Special Blood Drive Going on Wednesday in Memory of Sgt. Patrick O'Rourke

West Bloomfield residents are encouraged to give blood in memory of police officer killed in the line of duty on Sept. 9, 2012.

An American Red Cross blood drive is going ton today, Wednesday, Sept 10, in memory of Officer Patrick O’Rourke, who was killed in the line of duty on Sept. 9, 2012.The drive will be held at the West Bloomfield Parks and Recreation building in West Bloomfield from 1 – 6:45 p.m.

Fellow officers and the family are asking the community to remember O’Rourke and support this blood drive in his honor to help save lives.

“It is our job to protect and serve our community and country,” said good friend and fellow Officer Rick Trabulsy. “For Patrick, it wasn’t just a job. It was a way of life for him to always give of himself. And, we can honor his memory by coming and giving of ourselves by donating blood.”

He is survived by his wife, Amy and four children. O’Rourke was a regular blood donor.
