West Bloomfield Teens Volunteer To Beautify Detroit Park

A group of teens from the Good Girl Comeback, a local non-profit organization dedicated to empowering young girls, has partnered with Chick in the Mitt, a Michigan based lifestyle blog, and will travel to downtown Detroit on June 17, 2014 to restore a neighborhood park that Chick in the Mitt adopted as part of Mayor Duggan’s park initiative, which will keep 150 parks maintained and usable for residents.

“At the Good Girl Comeback, our main goal is to help teens see the goodness in themselves and others and the best way to do that is by volunteering,” Chelsea Gheesling said. “When the girls volunteer we encourage them to put their needs aside to help their fellow neighbor and by doing that, they learn how to truly care about one another and themselves.”

Gheesling founded the Good Girl Comeback to help girls set goals for themselves, build confidence, and become independent thinkers and virtuous leaders.
