Our Only May Amelia is adapted from the Newberry Award winning novel by Jennifer L. Holm. It is the coming of age story of a 12 year old girl who is being raised on an isolated farm as the only girl in a family of boys, and a newly arrived cousin who find girls in general and May Amelia in particular “useless”. As her mother gives birth, an elderly and ill grandmother comes to live, and family tragedies threaten to split the family, May finds her strength and the men in her family realize how important their “only May Amelia” is to them all.
