By the Numbers: How Downriver Fared in the Census

Six of the region's 18 municipalities saw population increases over the last decade.

Two-thirds of Downriver's 18 communities lost population over the last decade, according to figures released Tuesday by the .

Of the 12 communities that saw more people departing than moving in, River Rouge had the largest percentage loss with a 20.3 percent decline.

Out of the six communities that picked up residents, Brownstown Township saw the largest boom, up 33.2 percent. The others that saw population gains are Flat Rock, Gibraltar, Huron Township, Romulus and Woodhaven.
