Wyandotte, Mich., June 25, 2012 – Teens in grades 7 to 12 will get trained on how to live a life serving others through an imaginative program organized by a local Downriver Detroit church. July 30 through August 5, Wyandotte Family Church is hosting a celebration of service to the Wyandotte community called Week In Wyandotte. The program is a seven-day outreach and youth conference during which teens will take an active and positive role in providing service to the Wyandotte community, no strings attached. Teens will clean up parks and recreation areas, wash windows at downtown businesses, provide a children’s entertainment program including songs, puppets, Bible lessons and games, partner with Meals on Wheels for senior citizens, assist in a local soup kitchen, along with other service projects within the community.

Week in Wyandotte Directors Jeremy Gyorke and Cornell Jordan say, “Simply put, it’s about impact. We want people seeing and believing that there is still good going on out there. That in fact, some good is going on right here. And this good is giving people hope and giving students the opportunity to do something positive.”
The week will culminate August 4th, 12-5 p.m., with a “Bash at Bishop Park,” a well known local park on the Detroit River. The bash will have a Kids Zone with inflatables and face painting, a Battle of the Bands, dramas, musical performances and other entertainment. Free food and drinks will be provided by the church.
Besides the end-of-the-week bash, evening services with life-impacting messages by Cornell Jordan and high energy worship will provide an opportunity for anyone to join the students and community every night at Wilson Middle School.
