Great Escape: Triple the Fiber at Biddle Gallery

'Fiber Trilogy' opens Friday night with an artist reception at Wyandotte's Biddle Gallery.

Take a stroll through downtown Wyandotte on Friday evening and meet a trio of artists at who all work with fiber.

Marion Melody, Andrea Irwin and Sharlet Di Giorgio have joined together for the show “Fiber Trilogy." The show opens Friday with an artist reception from 6 to 9 p.m. Expect to see a variety of creations using similar material.

Melody, inspired by water, uses flax and handmade papers to form sculptures, books and wall hangings. She likes to experiment with new techniques by rehydrating some of her older papers.

Intrigued by signs and symbols, Irwin has created a series of needle-felted wall hangings meant to represent a sacred landscape as viewed from space. Irwin said she is inspired by aerial photographs of the Nazca Lines of Peru and other prehistoric geoglyphs found in various locations in North America.

Di Giorgio finds inspiration for her art in nature. She uses needle-felted wool, beads and antique silk to create her art.

The reception also will include a live performance by Joe Yankee and John Hall.
