• Roosevelt High School graduate continues musical path (thenewsherald.com) — A Roosevelt High School graduate from Wyandotte is earning national recognition as principal flutist with the Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra and a university professor, while preparing for a featured performance in the orchestra's Oct. 9 "Transcendence" concert. His path from Wyandotte schools to top symphonies and teaching posts highlights a local success story in classical music.
   

• Corporal Vester Hicks Jr., killed in Korea at 17, laid to rest in Michigan after DNA match (wxyz.com) — Wyandotte residents helped honor Corporal Vester Hicks Jr., whose casket was received at Czopek Funeral Home before a military escort and community tribute along Oak Street. Local VFW Post 1136 leaders joined family and supporters as he was finally laid to rest at Great Lakes National Cemetery, 76 years after his death in the Korean War.
   

• Rep. Linting, Aragona plan puts 'STOP' on out-of-control telephone solicitation (gophouse.org) — A state representative from Wyandotte is co-sponsoring new bills to crack down on robocalls and spam texts by requiring written consent and limiting when sales calls can be made. The plan would empower Michigan's Attorney General to fine violators and track complaints, aiming to give residents, including Wyandotte households, more control over their phones.
