Rookie Parker Dominates on the Track

Freshman sprinter is a new force for Wyandotte Roosevelt Bears girls track team.

There is a new name burning up the Downriver tracks this year. 

Adaysha Parker.

The Wyandotte freshman put on a show at Woodhaven on April 12, winning the 100m, 200m, 400m and anchoring the winning 4 x 200m relay.

"Nobody was even close to beating her," Roosevelt girls varsity track coach Kristina Powers said.  "So far, she has dominated the Downriver area, winning every race she has entered."

Parker's best time for the 200m dash is 26.3, the 400m dash is 59.8 and the 100m dash is 12.7.

"She is a dedicated runner who always puts the team first," Powers said.  "She has a great attitude and work ethic."

1. Who is your favorite teacher at Roosevelt and why?

My favorite teacher at Roosevelt by far would have to be Mr. Wymore.

2. Do you have any premeet superstitions?

I only have one premeet superstition and it's if the runner in my lane before me gets hurt, I don't want to run in that lane anymore because I think I'll do bad or get injured.

3. Who is your favorite professional athlete and why?

My favorite professional athlete is Lori "Lolo" Jones because she's an amazing runner.

4. Where is your favorite place to hang out?

I like to hang out at the movies and the mall.

5. What are your plans after graduation?

I plan to go to a great college and continue to run while I'm there. My dream college is Penn State.
