High School Diver Still in Critical Condition After Seizure During Meet (UPDATED)

The 16-year-old Roosevelt student passed out in the pool during warm-ups Friday at a swimming competition in Holland.

UPDATE (6:27 p.m. Monday, March 16, 2015): As of Monday afternoon, Nolan Gutenschwager was still listed in critical condition at a Grand Rapids Hospital, according to a Detroit News report.

A seizure was responsible for a Wyandotte high school diver being hospitalized Friday during a swim meet in Holland, according to a News-Herald report.

Roosevelt High School officials said Nolan Gutenschwager, 16, passed out after suffering a seizure in the pool before the competition, the report stated. Diving team coaches pulled Nolan out of the pool, and a lifeguard performed CPR on the boy, the report added.

Nolan, who was conscious before being taken to the hospital, was at Grand Rapids hospital as of Saturday and was being monitored, the report stated.
