Wyandotte Arts Center Hosts 'Downriver Idol' Tryouts
Auditions will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday for the third annual singing competition.
If you sing in the car, shower or with the radio, the Southern Great Lakes Symphony is offering you a chance to show off your skills.
The group is hosting auditions for its third annual Downriver Idol from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday at
Participants must sing a capella, with their own accompanist, or by making arrangements with organizers to have an accompanist provided.

For those who prefer to sing karaoke-style with backup tracks, a separate audition is taking place from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Best Western Woodhaven Inn, 21700 West Road.
Registration for either style is $5 and can be done online.

A junior division has been added to this year’s contest, which allows younger singers to compete against their peers, rather than against more experienced singers.
The singers in both the adult and junior divisions who pass the preliminary round will advance to the semi-finals, which take place at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 3. at the Flat Rock Community Auditorium, 28100 Aspen Dr.
The junior finals will take place at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 10 and the adult finals will take place at 3 p.m. Feb. 26. Both will occur at the Flat Rock Community Auditorium.
