Wyandotte Hockey Loses to Trenton in Overtime
Wyandotte Roosevelt stormed back from a three-goal deficit Wednesday night at home, but lost 4-3.

The first goal of the night for the Trojans (10-1-0-1) came from senior defenseman Cory Dunn, who put the Bears (3-8) down 1-0 at the 8:24 mark of the first period.
About three minutes later, a goal from senior forward Michael Lesko put Trenton up 2-0.

Lesko’s goal prompted Roosevelt head coach Mike Quint to switch goaltenders, benching junior Dalan Bulchak in favor of sophomore Frank Cerulla.
Trenton senior forward Corey Seychel scored less than one minute after the switch, giving the Trojans a commanding 3-0 lead.

Momentum shifted to the Bears, however, as Cerulla then shut down the Trojans and the Wyandotte offense was able to find a spark.
Roosevelt senior defenseman Ryan Lynch first provided that spark, putting his team on the board late in the first period, scoring at the 15:49 mark.
Both squads were scoreless in the second period, as both Cerulla and Trenton senior goaltender Blake Wojtala were strong when tested.
Two third-period penalties committed by the Trojans led to a pair of quick power play goals by the Bears, which tied the game at 3-3. Senior forward Tyler Groat scored both goals, with the first coming at 6:54 and the second at 7:23.
With the game tied, Trenton increased offensive pressure inside the Wyandotte zone. Cerulla, and the Wyandotte defense, however, were up to challenge and turned the Trojans away, sending the match into overtime.
That tough offensive attack from the Trojans continued into overtime and was eventually too much for Roosevelt to endure.
At the 3:55 mark of overtime, Trenton got one past Cerulla as Seychel scored his second goal of the night and sent the Bears home with a tough 4-3 loss.

Groat finished the night with two goals, while junior forward John Calhoun was credited with two assists in the game.
A Look Back and a Look Ahead
Wednesday night’s defeat was the second loss against rival Trenton this season, as the Trojans knocked off Roosevelt l. Although the Bears have struggled this season, the team did win a local tournament during the holiday break, beating Riverview Gabriel Richard and Allen Park. Up next for Wyandotte is a home game at 7:40 p.m. Saturday against Port Huron Northern.
