The turns 50 this year and organizers threw a party Monday night at the to celebrate.
Heather Thiede, the city's special event coordinator, spearheaded the three-hour event which featured hors d'oeuvres, drinks, artwork and music.

Attendees were treated to fair favorites, including cotton candy, popcorn and candy apples. A photo booth also was set up to pose for keepsakes.
Wyandotte artist Gloria Dunn, who helped start the art fair five decades ago, was on hand to receive a key to the city and a volunteerism award.

She also blew out the candles on the cake after the crowd sang happy birthday. To the art fair, of course.
