Juvenile Kills Woman In Failed Suicide Attempt: Police
The juvenile was driving more than 100 mph when he crashed into the woman's car, police said.
WATERTOWN, SD — Authorities believe a Minnesota juvenile was attempting to die by suicide when he drove more than 100 mph and crashed into another car in South Dakota, killing the woman inside. On Sept. 17, just before 5 a.m., Watertown police were dispatched to a two-car head-on crash.
A 2014 Volkswagen Jetta driven by a juvenile from Moorhead, Minnesota, was westbound on 9th Avenue SE. A 2007 Ford Focus driven by Dawn Meyer from Watertown, was eastbound on 9th Avenue SE.
The initial investigation indicates the juvenile crossed into the eastbound lane and struck the Ford Focus head-on. Meyer’s car was going under 35 mph at the time, police said. She was pronounced dead at the scene, according to a news release.

The juvenile was transported to Prairie Lakes Hospital with serious injuries, and he remains hospitalized.
The crash is being investigated as an attempted suicide. The investigation is ongoing and charges are pending.
