MN's Largest School District To Cut 75 Jobs: Reports

In addition to the cuts, there is another major staffing change affecting the district: The superintendent is leaving, according to reports.

ANOKA, MN — Minnesota’s largest school district plans to cut 75 positions and $8.1 million for the coming school year, according to reports.

The job reductions for Anoka-Hennepin School District include counselors, social workers, and other classroom and technology employees in the district, KSTP reported, noting a district spokesperson clarified that each elementary and middle school will retain one social worker.

Despite many cuts in recent years, including hundreds of office and administrative jobs two years ago, according to KSTP, the district’s deficit is approaching $6 million next year, KARE 11 reported.

In addition to the job cuts, there is another major staffing change affecting Anoka-Hennepin Public Schools: Superintendent Cory McIntyre has announced he will not return next school year, according to KARE 11.
