POLL: Gov. Tim Walz's Approval Rating Drops 8 Points

The Minnesota governor's approval rating has dropped below 50 percent for the first time, a new poll finds.

ACROSS MINNESOTA — Gov. Tim Walz's approval rating dropped to 49 percent, 8 points down from last year, according to a new poll from mid-September.

The poll — which was conducted by Star Tribune, MPR News, KARE 11, and FRONTLINE — marked the first time that Walz's approval rating has fallen below 50 percent since his 2018 election.

  • 49 percent approve of Walz's performance as governor
  • 44 percent disapprove
  • 7 percent are unsure

Walz is set to run for reelection in 2022. A number have state Republicans have announced their intent to run against him next year.
