Sen. Klobuchar Earns 2 'Pinocchios' For Comments On Ginni Thomas
A Washington Post fact-checker took issue with Sen. Amy Klobuchar's comments on texts reportedly sent by Ginni Thomas to Mark Meadows.

MINNEAPOLIS — A Washington Post fact-checker awarded United States Sen. Amy Klobuchar two 'Pinocchios' for her comments on Ginni Thomas, the wife of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas.
On March 27, Klobuchar went on "This Week" to discuss reports that Ginni sent text messages to former White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows urging him to help overturn the 2020 election results.
"The facts are clear here," Klobuchar said. "This is unbelievable. You have the wife of a sitting Supreme Court justice advocating for an insurrection, advocating for overturning a legal election to the sitting president’s chief of staff."

The Washington Post's Glenn Kessler took issue with Klobuchar's use of "insurrection," saying that it isn't clear if Ginni actually supported a violent overthrow of the government.
"'Insurrection' is virtually always defined as a violent uprising against a government," Kessler noted.

"Thomas may have wanted to overturn the results of the election, but her texts do not back the idea that she supported the violent tactics by the people who assaulted the Capitol. The texts are filled with falsehoods, but it’s not as clear, as Klobuchar says, that Thomas supported an insurrection. Klobuchar earns Two Pinocchios."
