1991 Halloween Blizzard Hits 20th Anniversary: Share Your Memories

I'll never forget the historic blizzard that took place on Oct. 31, 1991. At that time, I was a first grader at Parkview Elementary and my sister was a pre-schooler. She and I had been looking forward to Halloween because it was our favorite holiday. We love dressing up, and that year I wore an angel costume that my mom had created for me. 

Since we had been so excited about going trick-or-treating, my mom made sure to still manage to take my sister and I out to our neighbors for some treats. We wore our costumes over our giant snow suits and winter boots. Almost right away, I had lost a boot walking over a huge snow bank. I remember being cold, but we still had fun. My mom is quite the trooper walking us around. Even though we only hit a few homes on our street, we were still excited to fill up our pumpkins with yummy candy. When we got back home, we had hot cocoa and my mom went through our candy to make sure nothing was tampered with. My sister and I will never forget my mom's devotion to us, and making sure our Halloween was still memorable, even with a whole lot of snow.
