Brown Christmas? Rosemount, What's That?

Here it is December 21 and there is still no snow on the ground. OK, so maybe we've had snow here and there, but nothing that's stuck when you wake up in the morning. 

I don't know about you, but I love snow on Christmas Eve and Christmas. I love driving through lit up neighborhoods with light gleaming from homes and reflecting off snow on the yards. Maybe that's just me.

I lived in a warm climate for a few years, and let me tell you, Christmas isn't Christmas without snow.

According to the MN Climatology Office, the Twin Cities gets a white Christmas 72 percent of the time.   

I suppose the city is saving quite a bit of money on snow plowing, and there's probably a lot less winter car accidents. However, I feel for the children off of school on winter break. What are they to do? What about building ice forts? Ice skating? Sledding? Nordic skiing? Snowshoeing? Snowmobiling?

According to the National Weather Service, "The last "brown" Christmas was in 2006, when we had just a trace of snow on the ground on Dec. 25. A "white" Christmas is loosely defined as having 1" or more of snow on the ground."

So, tell me, what are your thoughts on having a brown Christmas? Are you hoping for a snowy miracle? What will you have planned for your children over winter break?
