Legally Blonde Opening Night Success!

There was a buzz of excitement in the air last night, as the Eastview High School Theatre prepared for their opening night of "Legally Blonde the musical".  The lobby was buzzing with the sales of raffle tickets and bidding at the silent auction.  (It's not too late to buy raffle tickets or bid on the great silent auction items - winners are announced on closing night!)

The show began with a strong overture by the pit orchestra.  Throughout the show, you can't believe that it is an orchestra made of entirely students.  Mr. Pasquerella who directs the pit orchestra, did a fantastic job in preparing with the demanding music.

The set, choreography, staging and costumes are interesting, engaging and dimensional. The students were in character and were vocal powerhouses, whether they were singing solos or chorus numbers.  The choreography with the jump ropes is not to be missed!  Kudos to Mr. Durocher, Ms. Douma, Mr. Gruber and the remaining artistic staff on directing the students in a great production.

Although you rarely see them, the tech crew of the musical also did a great job, changing scenes quickly and with ease, which allowed the musical to flow quickly from scene to scene.

Favorite audience scenes:  every appearance of the UPS delivery man, many scenes with Paulette, the "bend and snap" scene, and the courtroom scene with the pool boy, among many great moments.

The show ended with a deserved standing ovation.  I would highly recommend that you brave the cold to see the EVHS production of "Legally Blonde the musical".  Remaining shows are tonight (12/7) and next weekend (12/13 and 12/14).  For ticket information, visit www.district196.org/evhs.
