Patch Match: Mentor Raquaza Through Kids 'n Kinship

Editor's note: Each week, Rosemount Patch will post the profile of a child on the waiting list for a mentor through Kids 'n Kinship, an Apple Valley-based organization that matches kids in the south metro with adult mentors.

First name: Raquaza 

Age: 9 

Interests: Raquaza enjoys playing video games and got a new portable system for Christmas. Mario Brothers is his favorite game. He also likes swimming, baseball and football. 

Personality/Characteristics: He likes school and his teacher describes him as bright, happy and friendly. His single parent mom is a full-time student and is looking forward to supporting a mentor relationship for her son; his dad is not a part of his life.  

Goals/Dreams: Raquaza is in fourth grade and his wish is to have a mentor! 

Looking for: A male mentor or a couple who can help him explore his interests.  He has been waiting two years! This child is one of over 50 children currently waiting for a mentor through Kids ‘n Kinship, a private nonprofit serving Apple Valley, Burnsville, Eagan, Farmington, Lakeville and Rosemount in Dakota County for 40 years. If you're interested in becoming a mentor, you're invited to attend an information session on Jan. 12, 6-6:45 p.m. at the Burnhaven Library in Burnsville. Mentors can volunteer as individuals, couples, or families for weekly fun and enriching activities at home or in the community on their own schedules.
