Retired Local Pharmacist Creates Database for Rosemount's History

John Loch, a local resident and member of the Rosemount Area Historical Society, has spent about 20 years scouring old newspaper clippings and random articles to piece together possibly forgotten remnants of Rosemount's history.

"Loch's goal is to find and catalog those details so future generations know Rosemount's stories. He has more than 106,000 entries in his history database," according to a Star Tribune story on Loch.

"Some of his research will go into a picture book now being compiled by the Rosemount Area Historical Society. Loch will donate his database of old newspaper articles and additional research to the society," the Star Tribune reported.

Although Loch isn't a Rosemount resident himself, he did work as a Rosemount pharmacist, which is where his love for discovering more about his customers and the community sprouted from.

According to the Star Tribune article, "He estimated he spends 15 hours a week on his research, and he said he'll never stop. His motivation is simple: "I love Rosemount. I love history. I love the pictures that go with it.""
