2020 Election Update: Minnesota's Most Competitive Races

In Minnesota, there are at least three seats in the U.S. House that may flip to the other party.

MINNESOTA — Campaign season is heating up with only six weeks until the Nov. 3 general election. In Minnesota, it currently looks as though there are at least three seats in the U.S. House that may flip to the other party.

The Cook Political Report has rated the following three races as being competitive:

House races

Minnesota's seventh congressional district: Democratic Rep. Collin Peterson vs. Republican Michelle Fischbach

Minnesota's second congressional district: Democratic Rep. Angie Craig vs. Republican Tyler Kistner

Minnesota's first congressional district: Republican Rep. Jim Hagedorn vs. Democrat Dan Feehan

Senate race

Recent polls show that Sen. Tina Smith is now leading Republican challenger Jason Lewis. Real Clear Politics downgraded the race from "tossup" to now "leans Dem."

Presidential race

Recent polls show Joe Biden holding a steady lead over President Donald Trump in Minnesota.

Early voting in Minnesota

Ballots are now being mailed out to voters who requested them. Residents can also vote early in person if they choose.
