Apple Valley Woman Charged Following Crash in Eagan

The crash left one woman with broken vertebrae in her neck and several other injuries.

An Apple Valley woman is facing charges following a crash that left another driver with broken vertebrae and other serious injuries.

WCCO reported Christina Marie Polk, 30, was charged with two counts of criminal vehicular operation in connection with the May 4 crash.

The charges state that at about 7:40 a.m. on May 4, authorities responded to the scene of a crash at the intersection of Diffley and Nicols Roads in Eagan.

Witnesses say Polk, driving a Ford Edge, ran a red light and "T-boned" a woman in a Mazda van. The driver of the Mazda was transported to Regions Hospital with broken vertebrae in her neck. She also suffered injuries in her spleen, sternum, a torn diaphragm and multiple contusions.

The complaint states Polk told officers she was speeding before the crash occurred, but said she thought the light was green when she entered the intersection.

Polk faces up to eight years in prison and $20,000 in fines.
