Bites Nearby: Harry's Cafe

A Lakeville institution, Harry's Cafe is a favorite gathering place for family and friends.

Overview: Harry's Cafe in Lakeville is a family-owned restaurant known for friendly service and high-quality, made-from-scratch food. 

Décor: The atmosphere is casual and the walls are lined with televisions for all those not-to-be-missed sporting events. 

Drinks: Full bar service includes a happy hour from 3 to 6 p.m. and 9 p.m to close, as well as daily $3 drink specials.

Appetizers: The something-for-everyone appetizer menu includes wings ($8.95), nachos ($9.95), BBQ jerk shrimp ($9.95), potato skins ($7.50) and Harry's special, made-from-scratch, beer-battered home fries tossed with a delectable assortment of spices ($6.95).

Salads: There are lots of salad options for those looking for something light, such as the spinach salad ($9.95), as well as a Cobb salad ($8.95), Mediterranean salmon salad ($12.95) and a Ceasar salad ($8.95).

Sandwiches and wraps

  • Burgers are made from fresh ground beef, delivered daily by a local butcher, and range in price from $5.95 for a basic quarter-pound burger to the humongous B-52: two one-pound patties and a special bun built to hold it all ($18.95). There also is a vegetarian option for $8.95.
  • Wrap selections vary, from the exotic spicy jerk shrimp ($9.95) and homespun BLT ($8.95) to the meatless garden veggie ($7.95) and breakfast wrap ($7.95).
  • Sandwiches: Add a $3.95 cup of soup to a cold roast beef ($8.50) or turkey sandwich ($7.95) or opt for a hot sandwich like the enormous Monte Cristo for $10.95 or the triple-layered grilled clubhouse for $12.95. There also are plenty of sandwiches for those with a smaller appetite. 

Saturday & Sunday breakfast: When out and about in Lakeville on the weekend, stop in for a hot breakfast, served between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. Harry's breakfast options include omelets starting at $7.95, corn beef hash ($7.95), steak and eggs ($8.95) , eggs Benedict ($7.95) and s'more french toast ($7.95).

Lunch specials: Mondays through Fridays, between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m., Harry's features a different lunch special each day for $5.95,  which include smaller portions of some of their most popular items. 

Entrees: Entrees range from a half-pound grilled sirloin ($13.95), boneless porkchops ($12.95) and broiled walleye ($16.95) to south-of-the-border favorites like enchiladas ($10.95) and chimichangas ($11.95). Pasta options include cavatappi ($9.95), cajun chicken pasta ($9.95) and chicken tetrazzini ($9.95).

Desserts: Desserts are made on site. Stop in after a movie for slice of homemade chocolate cake ($5.95), apple crisp ($4.95), a large, hot-out-of-the-oven cookie (1.95) or a build-your-own ice cream sundae ($4.95). Present a ticket stub for a free cup of coffee to enjoy with dessert.
