Eagan 2020 Budget: More Cops, Firefighters
Also approved was a levy that will result in a $5-a-month increase for the average home of $314,000.

EAGAN, MN — On Tuesday, Dec. 3, the Eagan City Council adopted the 2020 budget, approving an increase of $4,698,500 — or 12.3 percent — in 2020, plus a 7.0 percent levy increase. The 2020 city budget will be $42,822,100.
This will result in a $5 a month increase for the average home of $314,000.

- 18 firefighters
- 2 police officers
- 1 forester to help fight Emerald Ash Borer (EAB)
- 1 street maintenance worker to pave, maintain and plow streets
"The City's recipe for success isn't a secret," Eagan Mayor Mike Maguire said in a statement.
"We know through community engagement and input that Eagan residents' number one priority is public safety. That's why we continue to invest in it, including transitioning from a volunteer to a full-time fire department which has cut response times in half - from 14 to 7 minutes."
