Eagan High School Makes Newsweek's Top 500 List Yet Again
Eagan High School significantly improved upon its ranking from last year's list.

Newsweek’s list of the best public high schools in the country for 2016 is out — and it’s an important list if you care about local-school quality and want to know where Minnesota schools rank.
Last year, ten Minnesota schools made Newsweek's top 500, including Eagan High School, which ranked 197.

Eagan High School Principal Paulette Reikowski told Patch about what Eagan's teachers and administrators are doing to help their students achieve success.
"We have been working hard as a faculty and staff to encourage and support students’ enrollment in Honors, Advanced Placement and College in the Schools courses," Reikowski told Patch.

"The barriers that may have been in place several years ago are gone, such as previous enrollment in such courses, grades earned previously and class rank," she added.
"This effort has resulted in more students from all ethnic groups being enrolled and persisting in these classes."
"Eagan High School fosters a climate of engagement, involvement and belonging. We have daily PAWS homerooms for additional student and faculty support. Students are involved in mentoring the freshmen through LINK Crew and providing extra support socially and academically for them."
Among the achievements that helped Eagan attain its 109 ranking include:
- College Readiness: 82.6
- Graduation Rate: 99.1
- College Bound: 90.8
- Counselor-Student Ratio 1:415
- Student Retention: 0.94
- SAT/ACT Composite Score: 62.4
- Avg. SAT Score: 1874
- Avg. ACT Score: 26
- AP/IB/Dual Enrollment Composite: 78.1
- Avg. AP Score: 86.0
- Dual Enrollment Participation 11.4
In total, 17 Minnesota high schools made Newsweek’s top 500 this year.
