Eagan Police Host Virtual Ride Along: Here's What Happened

EAGAN, MN — On Monday, the Eagan Police Department hosted a virtual ride along (VRA) on Twitter, offering residents an inside look at a police officer's regular duties and activities. Here's a summary of police activity reported during the VRA throughout the day:

First call of the day

6:39 a.m. Headed to our first call of the day. Woman having a mental health crisis.

7:13 a.m. Woman has been struggling with depression and wants to go to the hospital. She asked we feed her cat before she goes!

7:16 am Cat has a full bowl of food and she is enroute to the hospital with the paramedics to get the help she needs

8:02 a.m. - At the scene of a man that passed out at work. He is conscious now and on the way to the hospital

Welfare check

8:30 a.m. On the way to a welfare check for a man not answering the door. They say that's not normal.

8:52 a.m. After knocking loudly, yelling in the windows, and my partner taking an epic tumble from an overconfident jump. The guy came to the door.

8:54 a.m. The man is ok and my partner is ok(maybe bruised ego).

Speed enforcement

9:35 a.m. Calls have slowed for now. Headed out for some speed enforcement. Keep it safe out there and remember, don't #VRA and drive!

Medical

9:48 a.m Diverted to a medical for an unresponsive male. Medics are on scene and checking him out.

10:08 a.m. Man had a diabetic issue. Tube of sugar(glucose) given and off to the hospital. Some of our gear...oxygen, AED, & even baby delivery kit

Recovered gun

10:29 a.m. Working with a Texas agency that recovered a gun today that was reported stolen out of Eagan. I'll be making some phone calls

10:55 a.m. 14 thousand dollar shotgun will be returned to our victim. He was extremely happy... investigation is ongoing

Car crash

11:18 a.m. 61yr old woman took chase in her silver Corvette after being robbed by a teenager. She crashed but will be ok. Teen fled on a bike.

Domestic incident

12:11 p.m. Out on a domestic at extended stay hotel. Boyfriend damaged victims car & fled. It's so sad to see a young mother terrified to get help.

Welfare check

12:46 p.m. Just assigned a welfare check. Unknown if they even live in Eagan. Time to do some checking on the computer

1:35 p.m. Check was for a 3 yr old related to child custody issues. Everything ok. She showed me her princess crown and she sat in the police car

Speed enforcement

2:52 p.m. Back on the road..... time for speed enforcement. I may be in the Johny Cake area next to a school *hint *hint

3:05 p.m. Driver stopped for 11mph over the limit. He said his conversation about cookies/volleyball got the best of him

Domestic incident

3:47 p.m. Just clearing a domestic between brother and sister. They were upset over a missing phone. Mom will mediate
