Update on Eagan's Pilot Knob Road Construction Project
Even before the openings of Hy-Vee and Hobby Lobby, the intersection of Pilot Knob and Yankee Doodle was the second-busiest in the county.

The city of Eagan has released the following updates related to Dakota County's ongoing work on Pilot Knob Road north of Yankee Doodle Road.
- Dakota County has advised Eagan that substantial completion of road work, which began in July, is expected by early November this year, with restoration of the adjacent boulevard area by the end of June, 2017.
- Northwood Parkway will be closed through this weekend (Sept. 30)
- The improvements on Pilot Knob Road include an additional southbound lane, additional turn lanes, signal pole replacement, and safety improvements.
- The work that remains to be done includes grading and utility work scheduled to be completed by the end of September, with curb and asphalt work finished by mid-October and trails along that stretch of Pilot Knob completed by the end of October. The top surface (known as the wear course) will be applied to the road in early Nov., and traffic signal replacement on both Yankee Doodle and Central Parkway by Nov. 1.
- Once the Northwood Parkway work is completed, access on all roads is anticipated for the remainder of the project, with possible intermittent lane closures due to the placement of some of the new traffic signals.
- Right turns from northbound Pilot Knob Road onto Yankee Doodle (going east) may be limited or prohibited for much of October.
Even before the nearby openings of Hy-Vee and Hobby Lobby, the intersection of Pilot Knob and Yankee Doodle roads was the second-busiest in Dakota County, making lane and road closures during construction a particular challenge for drivers moving through this area, according to a news release.
When the $4.8 million Dakota County road project is complete, traffic movement in the area should be more efficient, improving vehicle and pedestrian safety and mobility.

Due to federal funding covering at least $1.2 million of Eagan's financing of the project, Eagan's share of construction costs were reduced to $800,000, paid for from the major street fund.
