Eagan Teacher Sentenced for Stalking Middle School Student
An Eagan teacher was sentenced for stalking in connection with numerous messages he sent to a 12-year-old female student via Snapchat.

Dakota County Attorney James Backstrom announced Tuesday that Cody Woodrow Hansen, age 26 of Hastings, was sentenced late Thursday to a stay of imposition, 5 years of probation and 30 days of electronic home monitoring for every year of probation for stalking in connection with numerous messages he sent to a 12-year-old female student via Snapchat from November of 2015 to early January of 2016. Hansen previously pleaded guilty to this crime on Aug. 18, 2016, according to a news release.
"We are pleased to have held this former teacher accountable for this troubling and inappropriate behavior which is a crime under Minnesota law," Backstrom said in a statement.
Backstrom thanked Assistant County Attorney Tori Stewart who prosecuted the case. Backstrom also thanked the Eagan Police Department for their thorough investigation in this case.
