Head-On Crash Kills Eagan Motorcyclist Saturday
The Minnesota State Patrol says alcohol may have played a role in the death of an Eagan motorcyclist early Saturday.
WASHINGTON COUNTY, MN — Authorities say alcohol may have played a role in the death of an Eagan motorcyclist early Saturday. Joe Neal Hansmeier, 43, of Eagan, was driving a Harley Davidson southbound in the northbound lanes of Highway 61 south of Highway 10 when it struck a 2013 Kia OLX head-on in the left lane.
Hansmeier was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, according to the Minnesota State Patrol. The fatal crash occurred in Denmark Township just before 1 a.m.
The driver of the 2013 Kia OLX, Rachel Marie Dickson, 22, of Cottage Grove, suffered non-life threatening injuries. Road conditions were reportedly dry at the time of the crash. Dakota County and Hastings police and fire assisted in the response.
