Dumb Criminal: Snapchat Leads Eagan Police to Robbery Suspects
On Jan. 3, Eagan officers responded to a report of juveniles who had been robbed at gunpoint. Snapchat helped police track the suspects.

You might not think Snapchat could be helpful in solving crimes. But as it turns out, the social media app especially popular with teenagers played an important role in helping police track down suspects in an alleged Eagan robbery at Northview Park.
On Jan. 3, Eagan police officers responded to a report of juveniles who had been robbed at gunpoint near Eagan High School.

The juvenile victims reported they were involved in an attempted drug exchange at the park when one of the three suspects pointed a gun at them and demanded valuables. During the confrontation, it is believed a gunshot was fired in the air and the suspects left the area.

On Jan. 4, a 17-year-old male from Saint Paul was arrested and charged with aggravated robbery in the first degree.
On Jan. 5, police arrested Mohamed Bue Radwan of Saint Paul. He has been charged with aggravated robbery in the 1st degree.

Snapchat videos recovered by authorities show Bue and the other suspects driving around and smoking marijuana prior to the alleged robbery, Sun This Week reported. Snapchat posts also show Bue displaying a .22 caliber revolver and another suspect showing off cash from the robbery, according to police.
Police say Bue later admitted that he was involved in the robbery.
Investigators from the Eagan Police Department say they have identified a third suspect in this case. The suspect’s identity is not being released at this time.
