Man Recovered From Schultz Lake Identified

EAGAN, MN — Officials have identified the man who was recovered from Schultz Lake on Aug. 3.

Dereje Gonder Hirpa, 34 of Eagan, was last seen on security cameras walking toward the beach two days prior holding a towel, officials said. His body was later recovered from the swimming area by the Eagan Fire Department.

Hirpa's cause of death has not yet been released, but Daniel Bianconi, captain of the Dakota County Sheriff's Office, said results from the medical examiner can be expected in the "very near future."
