Man Who 'Terrorized' In Apple Valley, Eagan, Burnsville Sentenced

EAGAN, MN — Dakota County Attorney James Backstrom announced Monday that Jared Otha Washington, 27, of Minneapolis, was sentenced to 75 months in prison in connection with an armed robbery spree that took place in Apple Valley, Eagan and Burnsville on Oct. 10, 2018.

Washington pled guilty to three counts of aggravated robbery in the first degree, and one count of attempted aggravated robbery in the first degree and fleeing an officer.

Two others were also convicted in this case. A 17-year-old from Minneapolis pled guilty as an Extended Juvenile Jurisdiction last November to three counts of aggravated robbery in the first degree and one count of attempted aggravated robbery in the first degree.

His case was sent to Hennepin County for disposition where he will remain on probation until October of 2022, according to a news release.

Daiquawn Michael Burrell-Smith, 21, of St. Paul, was sentenced on April 26 th to 75 months in prison. Burrell-Smith pled guilty last December to two counts of aggravated robbery in the first degree, and one count each of attempted aggravated robbery in the first degree and first degree burglary with a dangerous weapon.

"We are pleased to have brought the last defendant in this case to justice in this series of armed robberies that terrorized multiple victims in Apple Valley, Eagan and Burnsville," Backstrom said in a statement.
