President Obama Endorses Eagan's Angie Craig for Congress
President Barack Obama is looking to give Democrat Angie Craig a leg up in her competitive race against Republican Jason Lewis.
Today, Angie Craig, the DFL candidate for Congress in Minnesota’s Second Congressional District, announced she has earned the endorsement of President Barack Obama. Obama called Craig "a tough and smart leader," and cited her ability to protect Social Security and Medicare, keep our sacred promises to our nation’s veterans and their families, and get our economy back on track by addressing student loan debt crisis.
"I’m proud to endorse Angie Craig for the United States House of Representatives," Obama said in a statement.
"Over the last eight years, we’ve made tremendous strides towards making our nation safer, stronger, and fairer, but it’s clear that to continue this progress, we need to send more commonsense leaders like Angie to Congress to get things done for the middle class. Angie Craig is a champion for Minnesotan families and isn’t afraid to take on the tough fights, like protecting Social Security and Medicare, making sure we keep our sacred promises to our nation’s veterans and their families, and addressing the crushing burden of student loan debt felt by so many Minnesotan students and families. Craig is the kind of tough and smart leader who will build on all we’ve accomplished and take our nation forward, and that’s why I know Minnesotans can count on Angie Craig."
Craig said she is "deeply humbled to have earned Barack Obama’s support."
