Saint Paul Schools To Hire Burnsville-Eagan-Savage Superintendent
Saint Paul Public Schools expects to hire Joe Gothard, who currently serves as superintendent for District 191.
SAINT PAUL, MN — During a special Saint Paul Board of Education meeting on April 11, the board selected Joe Gothard as their preferred candidate for superintendent of Saint Paul Public Schools (SPPS). Gothard, who currently serves as superintendent for District 191, brings "strong leadership experience and knowledge of education in Minnesota," the board said in a statement.
The board said they were impressed by his public engagement in developing the Burnsville-Eagan-Savage School District’s strategic "Vision One91" plan. School officials also said Gothard is skilled at bringing people together for a unified vision for a district, and understands racial equity and its impact on student learning.
"We are excited to welcome Dr. Gothard to SPPS," the board said in a statement.

"Tonight’s decision concludes an extensive, five-month community engagement plan that gathered input through surveys, community meetings and group feedback sessions. We are grateful to the community for providing valuable feedback throughout the superintendent search."
The offer is contingent on contract negotiations between the Board and Dr. Gothard, with plans to finalize an agreement around May 1.
