State Order Supersedes Eagan's Mask Requirement
On July 21, the Eagan City Council approved a local emergency order requiring people to wear face masks inside public spaces.

EAGAN, MN — To slow the spread of coronavirus, on July 21 the Eagan City Council approved a local emergency order requiring people to wear face masks inside public spaces in the city. The requirement went into effect Friday.
However, on Saturday, Gov. Tim Walz’s executive order requiring people to wear face masks inside public spaces throughout Minnesota began.
While the orders are similar, Walz's directive supersedes local measures. Walz's administration cited researchers who advocated for mask-wearing, calling it a simple and effective step to slow the spread of the COVID-19 virus.
