Where Minnesota Falls Among Most, Least Charitable States: Map
Several interesting infographics show how states and populations differ when it comes to generosity.

MINNESOTA — As Americans dig into their bank accounts for #GivingTuesday — a national observance founded on social media to encourage more philanthropy — some states can be counted on to lead the charge.
A new report makes it clear that Minnesota isn't just the Land of 10,000 Lakes. It's also the land of generosity. The state ranks No. 1 out of 50 on Wallethub's Most Charitable States ranking for 2018.
Minnesota's neighbors didn't fare quite as well. Wisconsin ranked 10th, South Dakota ranked 22nd, North Dakota ranked 33rd, and Iowa fell at No. 34.

"To determine where the most generous Americans are inspiring others to be more selfless, WalletHub compared the 50 states based on 18 key indicators of charitable behavior," spokeswoman Diana Polk told Patch.
"The data set ranges from volunteer rate to share of income donated to share of sheltered homeless."
Minnesota ranked particularly high in its percent of population who donated their time. Overall, Americans rank fourth out of 140 countries in terms of charitable giving, Wallethub reported.
"Nearly 63 million people volunteer in the U.S., serving a combined total of 7.9 billion hours per year, the equivalent of $184 billion of service," the website said.
