Woman Who Died Jumping Onto I-494 Identified: Police

The woman who was seen jumping to her death from a bridge onto I-494 Sunday was 29 when she died, according to police.

The woman who died Sunday after she was seen jumping from a bridge onto a Twin Cities freeway has been identified by police. She was identified Monday as Kalisha Garcia, 29, of Inver Grove Heights.

On Feb. 12 at about 4 p.m., Inver Grove Heights police and fire officials responded to a report of a female who jumped from the Babcock Trail Bridge onto the eastbound lanes of Interstate 494.

Upon arrival, emergency responders attempted lifesaving measures on Garcia. However, they were unsuccessful, and she was pronounced dead at the scene.

The eastbound lanes of I-494 were temporarily closed Sunday as the scene was being processed, according to a news release.
