📰 News we're reading

• Classroom under the trees: Eden Prairie Schools launches nature-based pre-K (eplocalnews.org) — Families in Eden Prairie can now enroll 4-year-olds in a new nature-based pre-K at Cedar Ridge Elementary, where kids will spend at least half their class time learning outdoors. The district says the pilot program follows regular pre-K curriculum while emphasizing curiosity, hands-on exploration, and time under the trees, with limited transportation and no fee assistance available.

• Eden Prairie homeowner proposes 3.5-acre prairie restoration near Minnesota River (eplocalnews.org) — A Chimney Pines homeowner is working with Eden Prairie officials and neighbors to turn a 3.5-acre utility corridor near Spyglass Drive and the James A. Brown Conservation Area into restored native prairie. The project could boost monarchs, pollinators, and a rare Minnesota River bluff ecosystem while building on years of volunteer habitat work in nearby parks. Residents may see more restoration activity if grants and approvals come through.

• Forgery charge added in alleged $75,000 theft from Crooked Beverage (eplocalnews.org) — A felony forgery charge has been added against an Eden Prairie man already accused of stealing more than $75,000 from Crooked Beverage Company, which was based in Eden Prairie at the time. Prosecutors allege he posed as a Minnesota attorney in an email about court-ordered payments. He has pleaded not guilty to earlier theft charges, with a jury trial set for October.
